Signal Prototypes

"clicked"   void        user_function      (GtkTreeViewColumn *treeviewcolumn,
                                            gpointer user_data);

Description

The GtkTreeViewColumn object represents a visible column in a GtkTreeView widget. It allows to set properties of the column header, and functions as a holding pen for the cell renderers which determine how the data in the column is displayed.

Please refer to the tree widget conceptual overview for an overview of all the objects and data types related to the tree widget and how they work together.

Details

enum GtkTreeViewColumnSizing

typedef enum
{
  GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_GROW_ONLY,
  GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_AUTOSIZE,
  GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_FIXED
} GtkTreeViewColumnSizing;

The sizing method the column uses to determine its width. Please note that GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_AUTOSIZE are inefficient for large views, and can make columns appear choppy.

GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_GROW_ONLYColumns only get bigger in reaction to changes in the model
GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_AUTOSIZEColumns resize to be the optimal size everytime the model changes.
GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_FIXEDColumns are a fixed numbers of pixels wide.

GtkTreeCellDataFunc ()

void        (*GtkTreeCellDataFunc)          (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell,
                                             GtkTreeModel *tree_model,
                                             GtkTreeIter *iter,
                                             gpointer data);

A function to set the properties of a cell instead of just using the straight mapping between the cell and the model. This is useful for customizing the cell renderer. For example, a function might get an integer from the tree_model, and render it to the "text" attribute of "cell" by converting it to its written equivilent. This is set by calling gtk_tree_view_column_set_cell_data_func()

tree_column :A GtkTreeColumn
cell :The GtkCellRenderer that is being rendered by tree_column
tree_model :The GtkTreeModel being rendered
iter :A GtkTreeIter of the current row rendered
data :user data

GtkTreeViewColumn

typedef struct _GtkTreeViewColumn GtkTreeViewColumn;

gtk_tree_view_column_new ()

GtkTreeViewColumn* gtk_tree_view_column_new (void);

Creates a new GtkTreeViewColumn.

Returns : A newly created GtkTreeViewColumn.

gtk_tree_view_column_new_with_attributes ()

GtkTreeViewColumn* gtk_tree_view_column_new_with_attributes
                                            (const gchar *title,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell,
                                             ...);

Creates a new GtkTreeViewColumn with a number of default values. This is equivalent to calling gtk_tree_view_column_set_title(), gtk_tree_view_column_pack_start(), and gtk_tree_view_column_set_attributes() on the newly created GtkTreeViewColumn.

Here's a simple example:

 enum { TEXT_COLUMN, COLOR_COLUMN, N_COLUMNS };
 ...
 {
   GtkTreeViewColumn *column;
   GtkCellRenderer   *renderer = gtk_cell_renderer_text_new ();

   column = gtk_tree_view_column_new_with_attributes ("Title",
                                                      renderer,
                                                      "text", TEXT_COLUMN,
                                                      "foreground", COLOR_COLUMN,
                                                      NULL);
 }

title : The title to set the header to.
cell : The GtkCellRenderer.
... : A NULL-terminated list of attributes.
Returns : A newly created GtkTreeViewColumn.

gtk_tree_view_column_pack_start ()

void        gtk_tree_view_column_pack_start (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell,
                                             gboolean expand);

Packs the cell into the beginning of the column. If expand is FALSE, then the cell is allocated no more space than it needs. Any unused space is divided evenly between cells for which expand is TRUE.

tree_column : A GtkTreeViewColumn.
cell : The GtkCellRenderer.
expand : TRUE if cell is to be given extra space allocated to tree_column.

gtk_tree_view_column_pack_end ()

void        gtk_tree_view_column_pack_end   (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell,
                                             gboolean expand);

                                            (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell_renderer,
                                             const gchar *attribute,
                                             gint column);

Adds an attribute mapping to the list in tree_column. The column is the column of the model to get a value from, and the attribute is the parameter on cell_renderer to be set from the value. So for example if column 2 of the model contains strings, you could have the "text" attribute of a GtkCellRendererText get its values from column 2.

                                             ...);

Sets the attributes in the list as the attributes of tree_column. The attributes should be in attribute/column order, as in gtk_tree_view_column_add_attribute(). All existing attributes are removed, and replaced with the new attributes.

tree_column : A GtkTreeViewColumn.

Sets the size of the column in pixels. This is meaningful only if the sizing type is GTK_TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_FIXED. The size of the column is clamped to the min/max width for the column. Please note that the min/max width of the column doesn't actually affect the "fixed_width" property of the widget, just the actual size when displayed.

                                             gint max_width);

Sets the maximum width of the tree_column. If max_width is -1, then the maximum width is unset. Note, the column can actually be wider than max width if it's the last column in a view. In this case, the column expands to fill any extra space.

                                             GtkSortType order);

Changes the appearance of the sort indicator.

This does not actually sort the model. Use gtk_tree_view_column_set_sort_column_id() if you want automatic sorting support. This function is primarily for custom sorting behavior, and should be used in conjunction with gtk_tree_sortable_set_sort_column() to do that. For custom models, the mechanism will vary.

Sets the cell renderer based on the tree_model and iter. That is, for every attribute mapping in tree_column, it will get a value from the set column on the iter, and use that value to set the attribute on the cell renderer. This is used primarily by the GtkTreeView.

gboolean    gtk_tree_view_column_cell_get_position
                                            (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell_renderer,
                                             gint *start_pos,
                                             gint *width);

Obtains the horizontal position and size of a cell in a column. If the cell is not found in the column, start_pos and width are not changed and FALSE is returned.

tree_column : a GtkTreeViewColumn
cell_renderer : a GtkCellRenderer
start_pos : return location for the horizontal position of cell within tree_column, may be NULL
width : return location for the width of cell, may be NULL
Returns : TRUE if cell belongs to tree_column.

gtk_tree_view_column_cell_is_visible ()

gboolean    gtk_tree_view_column_cell_is_visible
                                            (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column);

Returns TRUE if any of the cells packed into the tree_column are visible. For this to be meaningful, you must first initialize the cells with gtk_tree_view_column_cell_set_cell_data()

tree_column : A GtkTreeViewColumn
Returns : TRUE, if any of the cells packed into the tree_column are currently visible

gtk_tree_view_column_focus_cell ()

void        gtk_tree_view_column_focus_cell (GtkTreeViewColumn *tree_column,
                                             GtkCellRenderer *cell);

Sets the current keyboard focus to be at cell, if the column contains 2 or more editable and activatable cells.
